Brake light switch
A small device attached to the brake pedal mechanism,sends the signal to the vehicle computer that brakes are applied.A car with a faulty brake light switch is UNSAFE to drive.
The function of brake light switch
When the pedal is pressed,the brake light switch makes contact and the brake light are illuminated.While the exact designs of brake switches can vary,they all serve the same purpose of activating the brake light when the pedal is pressed
A cause of brake light to stop working
When the brake lights will not come on,the first thing to check is the third brake light.If it too is not working,the brake light switch a bad fuse or an unplugged harness is likely the emergency flashers often use the same wiring,bulbs and sockets as the brakes.
